A Gallon a Day, + A and R Tutorials...January, 2024

First and foremost, thank you for your membership to the Movement Therapy Company streaming site. I’m glad you’re here with me as we move into 2024.

And as a reminder, starting this year, 2024, I’m giving a portion of all membership funds to MMIW (missing and murdered indigenous women), a branch of Native Hope. As a member you’re part of this donation. Thank you.

I have two things I’d like to highlight in this email newsletter:

  1. If making the time to move is challenging for you, think of it this way instead…

  1. Utilizing the Align and Refine Tutorials on the site, such as downward Facing Dog (upper body), Back Care, Knee Care and Plantar Fasciitis!

1. Depending on your life, personality and other factors, making a specific time to pick a video, roll out your mat or put on your sneakers, and do your movement practice for the day could be challenging. For some people, moving in bits and pieces throughout the day is easier.

You know you need to drink water. Let’s say roughly a gallon a day. You don’t wait until the end of the day and drink all of the water. You drink water throughout the day.

If it’s helpful for you, think of your movement practice this same way…instead of making 1 time in the morning or evening for it, do it in bite sized pieces during the day. Prance your feet or hold chair posture at the wall while brushing your teeth, take some jumping jacks on a bathroom break, and pick a short, 0 - 15 minute category video as you get ready for bed. If scheduling longer than 15 minutes a day for your movement practice feels hard (first, look at your priorities, wink, wink, - but beyond that…), commit to smaller time frames throughout the day. At the end of the day, a few chair postures, jumping jacks, leg stretches, a calf stretch at the wall and a 15 minute practice can really add up!

2. If you’re a teacher or a student, utilize the Align and Refine Tutorials. Remember, if you use the “view all” and “show more” buttons, you’ll see the Align and Refine Tutorial category AS PART OF YOUR MEMBERSHIP (you don’t need to purchase them). These tutorials are great if you want more details on Back Care, Knee Care, Downward Facing Dog, Plantar Fasciitis, and more...you get the picture!

Move today. A few minutes counts. Move throughout the day or carve out a specific time if that works better for you. Just do it.

Please stay in touch and let me know how you’re doing.

My best to you, always.

Jamie

PS. A big thanks to those who gave the site as a gift this season. And, as a few of you have mentioned lately, you've told friends and family about the site. Thank you. Word of mouth is priceless. I appreciate you all.

Sometimes I start to feel a bit overwhelmed by the things I'm told I should be doing... Instead of self care being enjoyable, it starts to feel like another thing on the "to do" list, a chore, and can
